Something tells me I'm not the only one here who struggles with procrastination. Around this time of year, around this time of night (11pm), I often find myself doing exactly the opposite of what I'm supposed to be: rather than editing, scripting, or planning, I'm scrolling openskimap, searching for what Austrian ski resort I should add in spot #42 on my European bucket list. Perhaps that's a bit extreme, and I'm sure there aren't many people who procrastinate like I do. But tonight, I did something a little bit weirder. I watched our own videos.
I don't write all of this to toot my own horn, let me make that clear. I was linking a few videos to send to someone and decided to take a quick peek and reminisce. I watched a Hater's Guide to Wolf Creek, which is our funniest HG ever, in my opinion. Then I watched the 3 Valleys projects breakdown. Then I watched the 2026 State of the Ski Industry. Before I knew it, I was watching Insider's Guides from years and years ago, about resorts I won't revisit for a long time (looking at you, Alyeska). By the end of it all, I spent a full 2 hours watching videos -- 2 hours that should've been devoted to writing a video script. And here I am still, writing a blog entry that I'm not sure anyone will ever see, instead of writing the script.
I'll get the script done -- that's not the moral of the story. And Arjun, if you read this, this isn't a justification for you to procrastinate even further on your scripts. But I learned a bit about myself tonight. I learned that I can switch back into audience mode and watch my videos to enjoy them, not with a critical eye or to research. I learned that I genuinely enjoy watching my own videos. And in a world where people mass-produce content for the sake of views, I think that what I found about myself tonight is quite valuable. If I can come back to a project months or years later, watch it without judging, and still genuinely enjoy it, I think it means that my passion for YouTube is still there. I take pride in taking pride in my work. Ain't that a tongue twister.
Once again, I'm not trying to inflate my own stock. I just realized that sometimes, it's good to go back and watch our videos. I plan on doing it more frequently in the future. And goddamn, that crystal-clear, bluebird 3 Valleys footage makes me want to go skiing. I hope you all enjoy our videos as much as I did, and I hope you're as excited for ski season as I am. All that said, it's now time to get some actual work done. Thanks for reading, and until next time!
