As our ski seasons and semesters wrap up, I'd like to start this off by saying thank you. From all of us here at SRG Skiing, we greatly appreciate your viewership. Especially if you're reading this, because it takes a true fan to go all the way to finding these. I'm genuinely not sure if anyone actually reads these anyway, but if you're here, you're a real one.
This season was a big one. We tripled or quadrupled almost every major statistic from the previous season--views, subscribers, watch hours, etc. We also saw some pretty serious improvement in our click-through rate and retention times. And this reflects what we've been doing--our focus throughout this season has been to make each video better than the last. We always worry about the next video and making that better, and while we do plan things and work on things well in advance of their publish date, we put equal care into the quality of all of our videos. That was rewarded this season, as we had several videos go over 30,000 views:
-The Biggest Differences About Skiing in New Zealand
-Skiing's People Problem: How the Ski Industry is Tackling Overcrowding
-Rockies Skier Skis the East Coast for the First Time
-Copper Mountain's new Master Plan is INSANE
As of right now (May 5th), we have two more big videos, going up this Friday and the next, each of which we believe has the potential to also break that threshold:
-This week: 10 Surprising Facts About Ski Lifts You’ve Never Heard
-Next week: The State of the Ski Industry (2025)
And we're not stopping. We have several big projects in the works that we're super excited to unveil to you. Over the summer, I'll also be working on reviving my personal channel, on which I make videos discussing the top 5 runs at certain resorts. I also have some other ideas for that channel as sort of "bonus" content to complement the main channel. Arjun's channel is doing as strong as ever, and if you haven't yet subscribed to that, head over to Arjun Ski and give him a new subscriber. We're trying to push that channel over 1k by next season. As far as the main channel goes, it's admittedly going to slow down over the summer. However, we're as dedicated as ever to continuing our weekly uploads, and we intend to be the kings of summer skiing content. Stay tuned all summer, because we've got some awesome videos lined up. The goal on that channel, while admittedly lofty, is to get to 10k by November.
This season was huge in other ways, not just content-wise. After Arjun and I finish up our ski seasons over the coming couple of days, we'll have racked up, combined:
-81 ski days
-2 continents skied
-7 states skied
-33 mountains skied
A lot of that was enabled due to the YouTube channel, so once again, we cannot thank you guys enough. While we still have a long, long way to go, getting this far has been more than a dream come true. While it is a bit early, we've started lining up some potential trips for next season so that we can plan our content. Some of those major trips (all just penciled in for the moment) are:
-Wolf Creek/Purgatory/Silverton, CO
-Deer Valley, UT
-Les Trois Vallées, FR
-Alyeska, AK
-Alta/Snowbird, UT
-Peek'n Peak/Holiday Valley, NY (yes, seriously)
-Powderhorn/Sunlight/Buttermilk, CO
-Bridger Bowl, MT
I know this has jumped around a lot, but my main point is that this past season was a super successful one, both skiing-wise and content-wise. We can't wait to do it again next season, and continue making better and better content over the summer. We appreciate your support once again.
Talk soon,
ShangRei Garrett
